M-65野戰夾克在越戰期間被美軍廣泛使用，並成為美軍在世界各地其他幾場戰爭中使用的經典。 

M-1965 外套最初由 Alpha Industries 設計，採用 OG-107（橄欖綠色度 107）防水防風棉尼龍緞製成。該面料由 Burlington Fabrics 製造。
